Changing Your UIF Status from “Submitted” to “No Claim Found”’
When you see a claim change from “Submitted” to “No Claim Found” it can be a disheartening and puzzling experience. One moment it seems like your claim is progressing and then within a blink of an eye it seems like your claim has disappeared from the system altogether.
Due to the high volume of claims, the UIF system must process each claim in a timely manner in order to keep from falling behind. **uFiling has a significant volume of claims to process and additionally, in order to keep the system up to date, a status check is run periodically. Because of this, there will be situations where a claim seems to disappear from the system, but this is usually a temporary situation and the claim has not disappeared behind a system failure, but is simply on hold as a result of the system checks.
Fortunately, you can spend a few minutes and check to see if the status of your claim can be documented and potentially resolved. To best plan this out we can show you how to deal with this particular instance and the “No Claim Found” claim.
Step 1: Refresh, Then Log Out and Log Back In (1 Minute).
While you may be jumping to the worst case scenario, it is important to remain grounded and start from square one.
You’ll see in the examples to follow that it is not out of the ordinary to find that the online system simply needs a refresh. Each of the status updates are in live time and may not be reflecting the most current state.
What to do:
Log out of the **uFiling web portal.
Close the browser completely.
Reopen the browser.
Log back into your account.
Check your claim status again.
In most cases the system just needs to be updated and your claim will reappear.
Why this works.
If the system is refreshed while you are logged into the claim portal it may temporarily say “No Claim Found”
Step 2: Check the Right Claim Type (1 Minute)
The UIF system categorizes claims into different types and your claim may have been placed in a different category than you were expecting.
Examples are:
Unemployment benefits
Illness benefits
Maternity benefits
Reduced work-time benefits
After logging in you will have to check all claim categories in your dashboard.
The claim is still active and is just categorized differently.
Step 3: Make Sure You Have the Correct Claim Reference Number (1 Minute)
When you submit a claim through the uFiling system you are given a reference number.
You need to check
Your email inbox
Your Messages
Your downloaded claim documents
If you have the reference number you should also check the claim tracking tool and status-check page.
If the reference number still works your claim is still in the system.
Step 4: Check for System Maintenance or Delays (1 Minute)
The Unemployment Insurance Fund system periodically undergoes updates or maintenance overnight and on weekends.
During maintenance, it may seem like claims are missing.
Look for these items:
The UIF social media pages Updates on system issues from UIF Your portal maintenance announcements
If maintenance is going on, it may resolve itself in a few hours.
Step 5: Confirm Personal Details (2 Minutes)
Sometimes the system automatically removes claims when the identification check is unsuccessful.
The identification check is done automatically. Claims are automatically deleted when the identifier is confirmed to be incorrect.
Make sure the following are exactly the same as they are on your records:
ID
Name
Bank details
Phone
Mismatch on any item causes a claim to disappear and enter verification.
If something is wrong, make the corrections as soon as possible.
Step 6: Confirm Status of Employer Submissions (1 Minute)
Your employer is required to submit certain documents for your UIF claim to be processed.
These documents are:
UI19 form,
salary information,
termination reason,
employment dates.
If your employer has not submitted the documents, the system might not show your claim.
If possible, reach out to your previous employer’s HR department to check that they submitted everything.
Step 7: Search for “Re-Submit Documents” Requests (1 Minute)
The claim may have disappeared because the system flagged a document as missing or unclear.
You may have notifications like these:
Additional documents are requested
Verification failed
Required documents need to be re-uploaded
Commonly requested documents are:
Copy of ID
Bank confirmation letter
UI19 Document
Salary slips
By uploading the correct documents, the system will likely return the claim to you.
Step 8: Bank Verification Status (1 Minute)
Pay outs from UIF hinges on whether or not your banking details have been verified.
If your bank details have not been verified, the system may place your claim on hold, or even hide your claim.
Check for these things:
Bank account number
Branch code
Account holder name
Bank confirmation letter
In case of failed verification, upload a recent bank confirmation letter with your name and account details
Step 9: UIF Call Center (1 Minute)
If your claim says “No Claim Found”, the only way to gain clarity on the matter is to contact UIF
The Unemployment Insurance Fund call centre is able to see your claim in their internal system, which is able to view more information than the public portal.
Include the following:
Your ID
Claim reference number
Date submitted
They can sometimes tell you right away:
If your claim is active
If it is being reviewed
If there is a technical glitch
Step 10: Go to a Labour Centre if you have to (last step)
If there is still a problem after several days, you may have to visit a Department of Employment and Labour Labour Centre.
Take with you:
ID
Banking information
UIF reference
Employer documents
Emails sent to you from UIF
An official can help you by checking the status of your claim in their system and can restore it if needed.
Why does the status say “No Claim Found”?
This can help you to feel less stressed. Some reasons include:
- System Errors
In large government systems, during an update, it may show the wrong status.
- Claim Verification
Your claim is possibly still being verified.
- Issues with the Employer’s Data
Missing employer documents may make the claim disappear.
- Claims Submitted in Duplicate
If you have submitted several claims, the system may be hiding the duplicates.
- Delayed Verification of Banking Data
If your bank info can’t be verified, payment processing will be temporarily stopped. How Long Does It Take To Get Paid Since I’ll Receive Unemployment Insurance Delay Payment Claims?

Concluding Comments
A change in your UIF claim status from “Submitted” to “No Claim Found” can be very concerning when you need those benefits. Most of the time, the issue is not permanent and it is the result of the system doing updates, the system doing verification checks, or the system simply lacking certain information.
In most instances, all it takes is about 10 minutes to refresh your account and check the issue. Verify your information, review your reference number, and check if your employer submitted their information. Most of the time, you can identify the issue right away.
If the issue is not going away, the UIF support team is your best contact or you can go to a labour centre.
Most of the time, your claim has not just disappeared, it is undergoing the verification process.
